WCG Ultimate Gamer on SCIFI
since noone else posted about it...
by LionHeadTM
Ok. I will admit. I like those reality eliminator shows. Holy Crap, I get the jingilies when I watch this show because it's a world I know whole-heartedly. I know what it's like to play those games. I know the taste of ruthless, lip gnawing, competitive playing.
Scifi has created a show that a high percentage of the younger crowd could enjoy and I am ashamed of you who hasn't seen or heard of it yet, let alone post about it. (if you did, then i'm sorry but i didn't see anything).
It's called WCG Ultimate Gamer. World Cyber Games. The name of the game is to win. Every week, there is a featured game to play. For instance, week one was rockband. 2nd week was Virtua Fighter. Get it? Every week, there is a real life challange, an isolation challange, and an elimination round.
First they introduce the game of the week. Then they have what's called a 'real life challange' it's just basicially the concept of the game, but they make a real life challange out of it. Example. The last episode was Halo3. So for the real life challange, they ran around with paintball guns and tried to blow up the other persons base with a fake bomb.
Then is the isolation challange. This is where it really matters. It's a big white room with the actual game and you play for the highest ranking score or time.
Then is the elimination round. The person who ranked highest in both real-life and isolation, gets to choose who the lowest ranking person from both real life and isolation goes against.
*whew* it's alot easier when you see the show for yourself.

OH!! and on a side note: I personally played Left 4 Dead with Mark (applesauce) and this guy... is GOOD... But then again, I could've been too if my computer didn't lag so bad when i play the damn game....

JD (rockband)
Kelly (virtua fighter 4)
Alyson (PGR4)
Geoff (Dance Dance Revolution)

... dante was cute too....

I would've ripped everyone to shreds on PGR4....
Comments
someone was *just* telling me about this show... now i'll definitely have to watch it!
syfy
its not a bad idea, but i think there are just too many reality shows
Meh. I'm not too big on competitive gaming. I don't know why, but it just doesn't feel right, if you ask me.
Nick Arcade was is far as I go for competitive gaming. I grow bored and annoyed by the personalities of the gamers most of the time.
I've been watching it. People are getting eliminated without making it to their specialties. It doesn't show nearly as much of the gameplay as I was hoping for. Still entertaining though.
I'm pulling for Rob, Mark or Swoozie at this point since it just seems that Amy is struggling and Dante was put out of commission by Jamal.
Greatest show in a long time.
I was thinking about watching this, but I don't know how I feel about gamers taking the games a little....too seriously. I watched G4's videogame championships last summer and remember thinking how ridiculous they were.
BOOM!! headshot....
@Mikhailov: There is a long history of people taking games seriously. Chess? Go? Pro sports? Olympics?
