Series Play This Now

The Neverhood games are another franchise whose underground cult status has always confused me. The Neverhood and Skullmonkeys are two of the finest platformers on the Playstation. That alone should have given them all the commercial success they needed. Add to that the fact that they are two of the funniest games with two of the best soundtracks around, and you are forced to wonder why they didn't go platinum several times over!

So if you have no idea what I'm talking about right now, watch this video and let Sean fill you in on the best PS1 game you've never heard of.

"A lot of people will say the game was too hard, but a lot of people weren't very good at the game."

LET IT BE KNOWN. IF YOU FIND GAMES HARD, YOU SIMPLY SUCK AT THEM.

Yes cd, because I think it's fairly easy to extrapolate from this video that I believe that Skullmonkeys is representative of every game ever.

Interesting. I remember seeing this game, but being an N64 kid back in the day, I never got the chance to play this. I was happy to see the Neverhood go from making a sidescrolling point n' click game - not a genre I dig much, since it's pretty...anti engaging - to a full on sidescrolling action game. I'd love to give this a shot. Here's hoping it gets a PSN re-release, or someone like GOG picks up the original game. I'd give that adventure game a shot now, even though I don't much like 'em.

Makes me wanna see Heart of Darkness get a re-release too. If it weren't for stuff like Limbo, I would've thought the "cinematic platformer" all but dead nowadays. That's a shame. Out of this World was pretty amazing, as were all the games that followed in that mold.
