Connecticut Resident Upset with Playstation Network PSP selection.

PSP Go Collects Dust on Shelf

by Mikhailov

What does one do when he buys a PSP Go, and is completely dissapointed by the lack of popular games on the PSN?

He gets a PSP 2000 at a pawn shop for $40 and hacks custom firmware onto it.

As much as I love the games on my PSN, there are games that I want to play that are just not making it to the network in time. I'm playing those games on the hacked 2000, and the PSP Go hasn't seen much playtime lately. This is a dissapointment to me because I absolutely LOVE the Go. Here are some games that I don't understand why they're not on the PSN:

1: Phantasy Star Portable: SEGA's MMO-like franchise has a pretty large cult following, so I'm not sure why the DEMO is up on the PSN, but the game is not.

2: Dissidia: Final Fantasy: SERIOUSLY Squeenix? Your best selling game is NOT on the PSN?

3: Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII: Again: SERIOUSLY Squeenix?

Now I have to list games that ARE on the PSN that have no place being there:

1: Untold Legends: While an old PSP exclusive, it sucks..really sucks...and there's two of them.

2: Dynasty Warriors: Do people still play this game anymore?

3: Marvel Super Hero Squad: There's a perfectly good Marvel Super Hero Game out there that doesn't need the word "Squad" and kiddy versions of the superheroes! Come on people!

4: Just about every other game on the PSN that either has an obscure name like "Mana Banana Fo Fanna Me Mi Mo Hi Ho the Derrio" or got a 5 in almost every review out there.

5: PSP Launch Titles....I mean PSP 1000 Launch Titles...well not the ones that are greatest hits...those other ones. You know the ones.

Ok I'm done ranting now. Brutal Legend and Half Minute Hero Quick Reviews are up in the Reviews section by the way. They're slightly less angry.

I felt less shitty when they put ATLUS games up.
I've got Crimson Gem Saga now to tide me over until enix drops their titles in the store..........if they ever do.
And if I beat that there's always Yggdra Union or the FFVII PSOne port.

That's a shame, Sony always seems to release nice hardware with terrible support. Look at the PSN when the PS3 first came out, it's only now that it's starting to be a viable network. Sorry for the disappointing purchase.

Sorry dude. I think we've all made expensive purchases in our lives that turned out not to be such a great idea. Like Fite said, the Atlus games recently released make it a little better, and there are a good amount of fun PS1 originals, but you are right--the PSPgo should be supported by recent games.

Ouch. Reminds me of the year I convinced my mother to buy the Phillips CD-i. Great idea, terrible software support.

if it makes you feel better, the PSN network will probably get better as time goes on. the purchase might seem like a waste now but i bet in time you'll be loving your GO.

also, i would totally play Mana Banana Fo Fanna Me Mi Mo Hi Ho the Derrio. just sayin'.

I'm not going to comment other than saying this:

You chose to make the purchase. You got me excited and I wound up picking one up. I am happy with my purchase. I am willing to wait for Sony to catch up with their hardware because I believe in the product that they provide. I think this ranting is justified. I just think that you should have looked into the PSPgo a little more before making the purchase.

Yes. We early adopters don't always get it right. That's why we suffer at the hands of the hardware and software gods. Patience is something that all early adopters should be good with.

I typed way too much and should delete this comment, but I don't feel like it. Enjoy your new (old) PSP.

I'm not complaining about the Go. I love that piece of hardware. I just don't like that I had to buy an older model PSP because the Go doesn't allow us to play games that SHOULD be available for it.

I've been alternating as of late. I use the Go for Monster Hunter, Half Minute Hero, and Megaman X, and I use the older model for Phantasy Star Portable and Dissidia.

lol I heard! I didn't see it show up on the PSN yet...I'm still getting that the sale is on, too so I'm guessing the update didn't hit me yet.

Now I'm just hoping SEGA read my post and Phantasy Star Portable is up, too.
