I wonder if Ghostbusters will be Zapper compatible...

...if so, this may justify a Wii purchase.

by Mikhailov

I was thinking of my Wii Zapper just sitting in my lonely ol' cabinet as I was reading a preview of the Ghostbusters game in Nintendo Power. I put 2 and 2 together, and thought...."huh....you know this game might be fun if you can use the Wii Zapper."

I was given Call of Duty 3 for XMas one year, and hated it until I got the Wii Zapper. I could never quite figure out how to manage the Nunchuck and Wii Remote with that game. The Wii Zapper made it so much more entertaining....until I got to a scene where I had to giggle both parts of the controller. No matter what I did, I couldn't do it with the Zapper. I had to take everything apart just to get through that one scene. The game has gone unplayed since.

However, if by some chance this game is made with the Wii Zapper in mind, it may be worth the sacrifice of the Wii's Standard Definition 480i Component cable over the XBox 360's HDMI cable. What do you think?

Although I have only seen screenshots of some of the cutscenes. I haven't seen actual gameplay footage yet, so the Wii Zapper may not even be an option if the game isn't laid out a certain way...

Don't cross the streams....I mean Wiimotes.

Interesting thought. My guess is yes, the zapper would be compatible. But that guess is based on nothing at all...

Seeing as the Zapper is just a hunk of plastic that holds the Wiimote as you shoot things I'd say there's a pretty good chance that it's compatible.

While that observation is 100% correct, if the B button is "jump" instead of "fire proton pack", or if the wii-mote is supposed to be held sideways, the zapper will be pretty useless as a peripheral.

Just like you COULD play Brawl with the wii-mote in the Zapper, there is really no reason you would ever want to.

Point taken, Tim. But can you imagine a scenario where firing is not done with the trigger? Although, if we're going to be canonical, the A button would have to be the fire button... I retract my comment.
