Today is Rocktober 13.
So dubbed by EA's Promotional Department

So today is Rocktober 13, also known as the promotional release date of Brütal Legend. Apparently Jack Black called houses with a pre-recorded message saying the game will be in today, but I received no such message. Since I have to go to the bank to withdrawl money (my new ATM card has not arrived yet), then go back across town to the Game Stop I reserved at, I will not be able to fully enjoy this game until 4:30 or so.
IGN has already given this game a 9/10 saying "Brutal Legend is a tour de force that wraps up humor, music, and clever gameplay into one highly polished package. You haven't played a game quite like this before and won't want to miss it. Tim Schafer is one of the funniest guys in games and Jack Black is one of the funniest guys in movies -- together they'll keep you ROFLing (although the laughs do taper off as you work your way through the game)."
Apparently Harmonix is also getting in on EA and Double Fine's action by releasing the Brütal Legend track pack for Rock Band. According to worthplaying.com, "'Brütal Legend Pack' is being released day-and-date with Double Fine Productions’ Brütal Legend on Rocktober 13. The pack features “(We Are) The Road Crew ‘08” by Motörhead, “The Metal” by Tenacious D and “More Than Meets the Eye” by Testament, all of which are also featured in Brütal Legend. For a limited time beginning Oct. 13, a free download code for “Brütal Legend Pack” will be included with the purchase of Brütal Legend, available on PS3 and Xbox 360, from any Best Buy retail location."
So to celebrate Rocktober 13, I get my copy of Brütal Legend, but I don't get some free Rock Band songs, or a really cool LP sleeve that matches the one on the title menu. Supposedly because I preordered from Game Stop, I get some kind of in-game guitar. Lame Stop hasn't mentioned anything about the guitar yet, but this is the same Game Stop that told me I had 3 free PSP Go downloads and a full version of Rock Band with more than 5 songs. I think I'm going to reserve my games at Best Buy from now on.
How are you spending your Rocktober 13?

I buy all my games at Amazon. I joined ECA for the 10% off Amazon games(not working right now though). Plus it's for a good cause. No game exclusive preorder goodness but I do get $10 off of a future game for preordering. I opted for release day shipping so FedEx should be dropping it off sometime today.
I'm here at gamervision til 4, then off to gamestop to pick up both uncharted 2 and brutal legend. can't wait!

Brutal Legend will be waiting for me when I get home and I can't wait!
I'll tell you one place where Rocktober is not being celebrated - Denver, CO.
Im liking the game a lot, but unfortunately I did not get the vinyl sleeve. I think I'm going to go to my local Gamecrazy and see if they have any left.
I've been saying that the game is nothing spectacular, but the plot and dialogue is so good that it doesn't really matter. It's a lot of fun.
