Too Many Games!
How did I get 6 PS3 games + PSN games?
by Mikhailov

Before I go into my rant, I have to tell you that I beat Tools of Destrution last night, so I'm working on the review (I'm also working on Quest for Booty). This rant originated from a conversation I had with TimO via the PS3 last night. Well: he asked me if I beat Tools of Destruction, and I replied with a huge rant about all of the games I now own. Sorry for the long message.
Gamestop Buy 2 Get 1 Free sales are DANGEROUS! I suddenly have 6 games to beat! Uncharted was the free game in the games I picked. Crack in Time and Batman are the other two.
It got me thinking, though. Why do we gamers do this to ourselves? We end up falling for the "shiny" factor or the "sale" factor, and we end up with all these games that are hours long. No matter what happens, we never seem to catch up because by the time we beat one game, we have several more on our plate. I remember this being MUCH worse when I worked at Toys R Us (I managed the video game dept). I can only begin to imagine what this must be like for the GameStop employee, game reviewer, game journalist, or game designer. People who are immersed in games 24/7.
I was talking to a GameStop employee when I went to exchange Infamous (didn't like it) for Batman (haven't tried it yet). We both felt that gaming as a hobby can very easily end up being a full time job (albeit, an enjoyable one). What are your thoughts?
While I'm ranting, I was also thinking of another game today:

I bought this game years ago (before the Wii) because it was suddenly discontinued. It played like Ratchet and Clank, where you had a sword and additional Ninja gadgets. It was 3x as frustrating because you only had 3 lives, and the platforming was beyond ridiculous. The reason I bought it was because I knew it was vanishing off the face of the earth, but even then I traded it in. I almost wish I didn't even though I knew I wasn't going to play it again ever. I just thought I would share.
Ok I'm done being long-winded now.

I seem to have the same problem but the games i tend to go overboard on are ps2 rpgs/ action adventures
I'm a GA at Gamestop and this past weekend was employee appreciation, and what do i buy with my huge discount (35% off used fuck yea)
Three...not one....but THREE 40 hour+ games (Tales of Symphonia, FF XII, and Okami)
So my wallet doesnt share the same pain, but the feeling of having too many games and so little time is most definitely there
Because the system is much better than you ever thought it was until you had it.
haha dude, never apologize for a rant on video games. It just means you're passionate. :o)
As for never having enough time, well I hardly ever actually finish games. If the story is amazing and the game is addictive, then I finish it. If not, I play it for the gameplay. Because lets face it, video games aren't really known for the story.
@TimO: You're right about that. There are a few games out there that have a fantastic story, though. Ratchet and Clank future is one. Uncharted seems like another.
I try to finish every game I get, but you're right, it's a full time job and then you end up so behind. I had to quit Prototype when I thought I was at the final boss battle and then the game kept going. Ughh it wouldn't end.
