PAX 08: The Daily Dairy @ PAX
Calcium Fortified PAX News and Junk
by Nikkita

We're slowly getting ourselves together here. I came downstairs from one of the most comfortable beds that could ever be granted to my tired self, to have a morning bite and sip with Sarah and Coop. They were pretty smooth to snag a spot next to one of the few Microsoft Surfaces in the lobby. Sarah and Coop are preparing for their interview with Hidden Path while I enjoy a cafe au lait with some tunes spilling out of our table.
And now that the dynamic duo are gone, I've somehow become the senior's guide to the Microsoft Surface. They're blown away, but fact is, so is everyone.
Well, I'm heading up to get ready for the day. PAX officially begins this afternoon and I want to take advantage of the little free time I have to review some schedules and brush up on the who's whos.
If you'd like to follow our PAX coverage and activity, head on over to Gamervision. I will continue to post my reflections here on the Dairy and if you're really impatient/intrigued, you can follow Gamervision's Twitter, which is being updated by all of us GV PAX goers.
Toodles!

Freezepop live last night.
Back in the lobby of the hotel since I have a gap to get some writing done. In need of a health boost so I opted out on eating Subway and am sticking with some delicious fresh fruit. That should balance out the DayQuil. Timmy and I had a late night last night with the evening concerts, and then an early start this morning when we got some Sony-rrific donuts over at Top Pot Donuts. From there we headed back to the convention center for the Press-Only Penny Arcade Q+A. It's so nice to see the faces behind all of this. Jerry and Mike are definitely two very down to earth, and even more, humble human beings. I remain an fan.
Ha...some PAXers are looking at the Microsot surface in front of me...
The floor is definetly a different place now that it's been open to the public. I'm grateful that press was given a 2 hour advanced preview. I would have never been able to get my hands on Guitar Hero: World Tour, Rock Band, Animal Crossing, and most certainly not Little Big Planet if it wasn't for that special time. I'll definitely be reflecting on my first impressions of those in due time.
This afternoon I'll be hitting up the Mega64 panel, a Nerdcore Rising screening and the evening concerts. Can't wait!
Timmy's Precipice Of Darkness Costume Wins

Of course we think Timmy looks great, but apparently he's also very nimble. As I've reported before, the Hotheads booth was holding a costume contest for those Precipice Of Darkness fans that wanted to reflect their love for the game in dress. On all 3 days of PAX, the first 3 costumed fans to the Hotheads booth were to win a collector's edition of the game. Well, on Friday, Timmy was first to get his argyle socks over yonder and won himself the snazzy prize. Congratulations Tim! I guess it was totally worth it to wear your hat on the plane, after all.

Apart from Jerry and Mike/Gabe and Tycho, these two from Ninja Town may be my two favorite people at PAX. When they're not busy huddling around/hugging/party boy-ing innocent convention goers, they're generally fighting each other. I probably saw them 50 times yesterday, and they made me laugh every single time.

One booth that was hard to miss considering it was pink and fluffy, was the Pink Godzilla booth. Decked out with classic games, keychains and mini pink godzillas to hug, it takes someone with a strong will (or no money) to walk away from them empty handed.

Their awesome signs didn't help either.
That reminds me, I really need to hit up the ATM. Or run far far away...
Check Pink Godzilla out online!

Trying to fit in with all the cool folks at ClubNAMCO by deliberately sticking my head inside of Pac Man. Was kind of a painful experience for both of us, except I was the luckier one since Pac Man is actually made out of plushy goodness.

There's a mini figurines set of the Home Star Runner crew for sale over at the TellTale booth for $15.00. I turned Strong Mad upside down, but he got mad, and well...that's kind of scary

Some kid was carrying around a Weighted Companion Cube to have signed by Valve. He offered the cube up for a photo op and warned me it was pretty heavy. Boy, that sucker really was. I asked if he planed to incinerate it later, to which he replied "Of course not!"

Congratulations Tim! You've been dressing that way for months and it finally paid off!
i want pac-man to eat MY face, too!
timmy was definitely wearing his fancy pants
Funny story, the limited edition game box came with a Penny Arcade 20-sided die in it. On the way out of the convention center, some guy challenged me to a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to win one of my buttons (there was an expo wide button challenge going on). So I challenged him to an initiative roll of the dice for one of his. Long story slightly longer: I won R,P,S and THEN rolled a natural 20 to take his pride in addition to 2 of his buttons.
I ended up giving him all my buttons because it was time to leave PAX, but still....20....that's how I roll, bitch!
