Anatomical Heart Locket

heart

Do you love someone? Do you want to be with that person forever? Do you want to keep a picture of him or her close to your heart? Then this is not your locket. Perfect for anti-Valentines and fans of anatomy and guts, this heart only has one thing to offer. More heart. It's stunning as is to say the least, but just imagine the face of those who dare to open it. Priceless. Just remember to be good to your heart and keep the bacon grease out.

The Anatomical Heart Locket is available with an 18 or 24 inch chain from the heronadornment Etsy shop for $210-226. There are also some other silver heart charm options if you don't have the dough for all them chambers.

Moonbow!!!

article-1249387-08333A59000005DC-793_634x423

We can thank the sun for its hand in rainbows, but this fancy arch of a color spectrum is a luminous product of the moon, stretching across the volcanic Haleakala crater on Maui Island, Hawaii. I wonder how our favorite conspiracy theorist would feel about this?

She'll probably blame it on Obama and the Russians.

Polaroid Scarf

We can all rest assured that Polaroids are making a comeback, but just in case you really want to take that celebration to a whole new level, you can adorn your already beautiful neck (see that? I'm being nice to you!) with one of the gorgeous Polaroid scarves by Philippe Roucou, complete with white border and all. And there's so many to choose from! Granted, they will set you back about $417.00. Yikes. I guess I'll stick to the dollar bin at Target...

Check out the Polaroid Scarf here!

We Love XKCD, We Love The Internet

XKCD, being the awesomest, simplest comic, strip-ified Discovery Channel's "Boom-De-Yadda" commercial and it is adorable. Even more adorable, Olga Nunes videofied the stripified XKCD Discovery Channel commercial into one world-loving geek fest explosion featuring the likes of Neil Gaiman and Wil Wheaton to MC Frontalot and Mr. Toast (and a whole lot of bloggers and friends in between). Why? Because we love the internet.

Check out the Discovery Channel version here for full understanding. Also because it's super awesome. Just like the world. Seriously, Discovery. Best catch phrase ever.

Self Slicing Pizza!

And now for the greatest invention since sliced bread, self sliced pizza! No, not a pizza with A.I. arms and lasers that can split up its own portions, but rather a cluster of pizza bites, making pizza snacking pizzatastic. Did I just say pizzatastic? Yes. Yes I did. So who's the master brain behind this culinary? Industrial designer Matt Brown.

I've been wanting to try this for a while and finally got around to it- a pizza with some adventure, one that you don't have to slice. I had to make it kind of fast because it was our lunch and we were hungry, but the results so far for this first draft have been encouraging. The thing about it is- the pizza decides how big your slice is going to be. The slices rip off randomly, it's a lot of fun to eat. Fluffier than I wanted. You can already see that the middle part will be the prized section of this pizza- something to rip towards and work for. More updates to come once I work on the second draft- going to try different shapes/patterns to fit together to get the ultimate self-slicing pizza.

Dang Matt, you make industrial design even cooler than it already was. Mostly because it's edible. Yeah edibles! You go, Matt!!!

Today's theme: good ideas, poorly implemented.

Heart locket: cool, no room for pictures.
    Polaroid scarf: cool, prohibitively expensive.
XKCD song: good cast, tone deaf.
Self-slicing pizza: fun concept, looks gross.

Not that I blame Nikkita, but it is mostly her fault....
