Toy Fair 2010: Hershey's Earbuds And Flash Drives
Earbuds and flash drives are pretty prevalent in today's gift world, but these Hersey licensed goodies are almost good enough to eat. And by eat, I mean stick in your ears and computer. Because nobody in their right mind would eat ear candy. I mean, most ear candies. As far as these particular goodies go, I'd say the Bubble Yum and Hershey's bar look the most edible. Probably because their packaging is so simple and boxy. Whatever, good enough for me.
These Hershey goodies will be available at Toy R Us along with their candy buddy digital cameras, which to honest, were not as cute and therefore I did not take a picture of them. Until then, use your imagination or check out more pictures here.
Toy Fair 2010: Banana Design Lab Snugglies
Like any convention, Toy Fair was pretty exhausting and it didn't help that we had lunch 5 hours after I was ready to start stuffing my face. But as I nearly fell asleep, wandering the aisles of crazy people with toys, I stumbled upon the Banana Design Lab booth where I finally got to give the My Beating Heart pillow, which you've probably seen on ThinkGeek, a big ol' hug. For those of you who aren't familiar, this pillow actually has a pulse. To be more specific, the pulse of someone in a deep sleep. And since heartbeats have the magical power to sync to one another, hugging the pillow physically calms you. Granted, I was pretty sleepy, but holding that pillow, man... I wanted to doze off right there and then, which would probably have been an embarrassment since I was standing and in mid-conversation.
Anywho, the My Beating Heart now comes a smaller size complete with handle for little hands to drag along with them. Needless to say, I'd accept any one of these hearts into my life (and I won't even try to break them).
I also got a chance to hug Banana Design Lab's newest snuggle bunny, the ChuChi. Also designed with the little ones in mind, ChuChi is a friend for anyone afraid of the dark. So whether you're drifting off to sleep or exploring the house after everyone's gone to bed, this little guy can be your flash/night light. You can even switch between "head" light and a beating "heart" light by squeezing the little button in his hand. Apparently some designers wanted ChuChi to have a little underarm hair, but that didn't really fly for production. Too bad, that would have been an automatic sale for me. Oh well, I could probably use the company of ChuChi anyway ever since my house started making super scary noises when my roommates are out of town.
Want to buy some Banana Lab Design goodies? The head on over to their site where they can direct you to online stores and, better yet, local stores near you carrying their product. Support your local economy! Buy me snuggly presents!
Let's take a little break from Toy Fair to revisit our geek roots, where Photoshop and baked goods somehow magically go together. At this point, I will admit that I'm annoyed of looking at Photoshop. Probably because I had a menacing dream about it last night. But I'll get over it once my tonsils start looking normal again and my brain starts functioning like a normal person's. Who am I kidding? That will never happen.
Super props to Vimeo-ist Lait Noir for their cardboard baking stop-motion AdobeYouGC competition submission. Wow. That sentence was cumbersome. Whatever, I'm tired and cookies rule. Deal with it.
Well baked, friend!
Nuff said.
Shady your link here.
Thanks, Paul!
To be honest, I just wanted to post a picture of these glorious chunks of chocolate because I want to eat them. Right now. Because I am jonesing bad for some chocolate as we speak. But if you like to get your hands dirty or happen to have yourself an authentic double boiler (unlike the makeshift solution I have at home) and some kitschy ice molds that need a little love and attention, then by all means, melt away over at AwajiMan's Chocolate Space Invaders Instructable. And pretty please send me your results? I'll be your best friend...
And if you just want the ice tray, you can order from ThinkGeek (or just about any-geeky-where else) for $7.49.
Twitter updates have gotten way out of control. When are people going to realize that the dark abyss that they're shouting out to is not just a handful of friends, but rather the entire internet? And as Please Rob Me points out, when you're somewhere other than home, well, then you're not home.
The danger is publicly telling people where you are. This is because it leaves one place you’re definitely not… home. So here we are; on one end we’re leaving lights on when we’re going on a holiday, and on the other we’re telling everybody on the internet we’re not home. It gets even worse if you have “friends” who want to colonize your house. That means they have to enter your address, to tell everyone where they are. Your address.. on the internet.. Now you know what to do when people reach for their phone as soon as they enter your home. That’s right, slap them across the face.
The goal of this website is to raise some awareness on this issue and have people think about how they use services like Foursquare, Brightkite, Google Buzz etc. Because all this site is, is a dressed up Twitter search page. Everybody can get this information.
If anyone dares pulling something like that on my dear address, I will slap the living daylights out of him. By the way, the most recent opportunities/Twitter updates listed went from 23 posts to well over 100 in approximately 1 minute. Yeah. Wow.
