Now why I'd make a sushi related post before lunch is beyond me, but alas, here I am, drooling at fake sushi that should most definitely not be ingested, yet again. Flickr-er Big Daddy Nelson seems to have a pretty strong grasp of how to bring out the fullest capacity of awesome from his LEGOs constructions. The Super Sushi album just so happens to be the most delicious. Man, I wonder what set those green wasabi blocks came from because I don't have anything close to that color. Once again, I'm jealous that I didn't think of it first.

Whether you like to keep all of your thoughts and notes in a Moleskine notebook or in your handy dandy laptop, here's fun way to digitize and organize all of your ideas. Provided by deviant ARTist Pica-ae, the Simple Moleskine Icons are waiting for you to download them here.

Do you know just how much energy is being sucked out of those sockets, even when your pluggable goods aren't in use. A "Power Vampire" can be anything from a computer monitor to a cell phone charger. If it's plugged in, it's sucking and wasting valuable energy. Prevention is simple, just unplug it. But if you got yourself a little system, that could get messy and tangly quite quickly.
Designer Paulo Oh has come up with a simple yet brilliant solution. The "Hang On Outlet" provides a shelf/slot for you to hang unplugged powerchords while they aren't in use. When it's time to charge up your iPod or what have you, everything is all set! All you got to do is plug in. But don't forget to unplug when you're done. That'd kind of defeat the purpose.
Speaking of sockets, outlets and plugs...
Ukrainian band Younnat switches up all their buttons with sockets with their own mechanical sampler interface, the Socket Sampler. Intriguing, no?
Red Bull Headquarters - Yeah, They Got A Slide
Jump Studios did a great job with their design for the Red Bull Headquarters. Apart from its sleek and fast pace architecture and interior design, which is oh so fitting for an adrenaline inducing beverage, they've also included a slide. I don't think you understand how jealous that makes me and probably everyone else here at GV's HQ. Then again, we do got a lot of video games. Sigh...I guess that'll do, especially since I'm not entirely sure where we'd get the most use of a slide. In the end, it'd probably be much more useful to those Red Bullers, anyways. They're all probably really really hyper.
Plastic Motor Powered By Direct Light

Professor Tomiki Ikeda of Japan's Tokyo Institute of Technology and his research team have created the first plastic motor to run off of ultraviolet and visible light. This is not to be confused with solar, where light is converted into energy. We're talking power from direct light! The motor is made of a shape-shifting elastic polymer that can change shape to accommodate the wavelength of the exposed light. For example, the plastic is wrapped as a belt around two wheels of two different sides. The smaller wheel is exposed to uv light, which causes the plastic to contract. The bigger wheel is then exposed to visible light, causing the polymer to expand back to its original size. All of this activity causes the wheels to spin, with no stored energy, just light. While this technology cannot power vehicles (YET) there are high hopes for future development.
