Cartoons Weren't the Only Things We Watched on Saturday Mornings

Recently I was sorting through some of my old VHSs, looking for recordings of the first few minutes of Spice Channel movies, (you know, before the feed would get all scrambled) when I stumbled upon a caché of '80s cartoons I must have taped one Saturday morning as a kid. Immediately, I put my pants back on and began to revisit my childhood (except for the pants part). Lo and behold, there were all my old friends: Garfield and Friends, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, Gobots… Though, truth be told, I wasn’t nearly as interested in the cartoons as I was in the commercials that bookended them. Yeah, we’ve all been to RetroJunk.com, but some of these ads really tore open the floodgates of my memory. Like most of you, I’m a hardcore gamer, but I prefer my games aged twenty years or more. So when I saw two of the all-time rarest commercials for two of my all-time favorite games, I quickly took my pants back off, captured the footage to I.N.T.E.R.N.E.T., and posted ‘em here.
Many of you probably don’t remember text adventure games, let alone the fact that Valve remade one of Sierra’s more obscure interactive fiction titles, Portal, some two decades later as the first-person puzzler everyone knows and loves.
And how many of our readers were owners of the Magnavox Odyssey², let alone Electronic Arts’ genre pioneering Left 4 Dead? Valve would also remake this game a quarter of a century later, but not before Electronic Arts had developed a Zapper™ compatible sequel for the NES.

I would, 100%, no doubt, play a light gun Left 4 Dead game. I'm not too sure about a text-based Portal though.
I'm with Sean on this one. Good job guys. This is pretty fucking funny.
Yo I REMEMBER these!!! ABC saturday morning was the SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!
text-based Portal: no more difficult/annoying/impossible than the text-based Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Fucking phenomenal. That's all.
the Portal one is automatic win because they used a Novint Falcon as GLaDOS!
"After these messages, we'll be riiiight back!"
Good Lord, that brought back memories -- was life ever better than playing the NES between episodes of The Real Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?!
Hahahah fucking sic, you could really pass these off as real commercials from the day. Nice job!!!
talk about classic lol love it
I love the Novint Falcon
