Gmail's New Mail Goggles Prevent Drunk Emailing
Google: The Company That Cares
by Player Oni
So maybe it isn't the brand new open source OS we're all hoping for, but Mail Goggles is a damn fine product for Google to release. Let's face it, we've all done this before: Had a few drinks, then sent an email or text message we probably wouldn't have if sober. Google hopes to rectify that by adding an optional security measure to verify you're sober enough to send emails:
"The Goggles can kick in late at night on weekends. The feature requires you to solve a few easy math problems in short order before hitting "send." If your logical thinking skills are intact, Google is betting you're sober enough to work out the repercussions of sending that screed you just drafted.
And if you can't multiply two times five, you'll probably thank Google in the morning.
To activate Goggles, Gmail users should click the "Settings" link at the top of a Gmail page, then go to the "Labs" section."
Mail Goggles may not solve all of your drunk dialing problems, but you can be sure that Google's got your back when it comes to drunk emails.
Unfortunately for me, drinking does not impair my math skills whatsoever, so despite Google's best efforts to keep me on a leash I will continue blissfully sending emails I will regret later.
