EA Spring Preview: Dragon Age: Origins Interview
We Talk Dragons

So, for anyone who was a PC gamer in the 90's, it's common knowledge that Baldur's Gate was one of the premier RPGs on the platform (right alongside Fallout). Very few games had ever (or would ever) match its scope, and it also had the hardest trolls ever. Seriously, if you didn't have a fire spell or flaming arrows, you were pretty much bunked.
So when BioWare announced it would be producing another fantasy RPG, Dragon Age: Origins, for the PC and next-gen consoles, interests were piqued. Will this just be a prettier Neverwinter Nights? Or can they recapture the magic of Baldur's Gate?

Wow... some of that gameplay footage is gorgeous looking.
Man, don't get me all excited for a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate. That is so unlikely to live up to my unreasonable expectations.....
imo
Baldurs Gate II was the gem of the PC RPG. Nothing has come since then that has captured my imagination quite like that game. The story alone is worth playing through. I really hope they can recapture the essence of that game, but ever since Black Isle sunk, no game was come close. NONE!
