The First 45 - Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
This First 45 features Chris and Luke.
In the process of creating an expansion for their Xbox original hit, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Starbreeze Studios realized their game still looked totally awesome and with some minor tweaks, it basically looked like a current generation title.
The graphics may hold up, but has their gameplay gone stale?
- - - At heart, The First 45 is a first impressions video. There's a catch, the impressions we offer are taken solely from the first 45 minutes that we spend playing a game. They say first impressions are the most important, and we feel it is the same with games. If you really aren't pulled into a game within the initial hour, chances are good you won't dig it after that. There are no exceptions, this is exactly the beginning 45 minutes, from the time we boot up the game. What if the game pulls an MGS and starts with a 30 minute cutscene? That's too bad. We live in a fast-paced society, and we don't have time to waste. We just want to play games. Related Articles:

Escape from butcher bay was great for its time. It wasn't as high of a difficulty as this one seems to be, but I think the most important thing is that some games just work for the time period and technology of that time. Its like trying to reinvent Golden Eye. No can seem to get it right no matter how many "sequels" they make.
I wouldn't mind playing through butcher bay again with these graphics but not for 60 bucks.

I still wanna play this as I never got to play the first. I'll probably pick it up when it's budget.

The AI seems to be way too good for "normal" difficulty. Also, it looks to be a very mediocre release. Oh well... I'll save my money.
