Yakuza 3 Boosts PS3 Sales

Gamasutra is reporting that Sega's Yakuza 3 has sold 372,000 copies its first week. Very impressive. It's always great to hear some positive news regarding Sega and I guess this bodes well for a U.S. release of the 3rd game in a series which appears to be woefully under appreciated in this part of the globe (actually 4th if you count the spin-off, Japan only release Ryo Ga Gotoku Kenzan! which took the series out of its modern Japan setting and into the 16th century).
Yakuza 2 released last September in the U.S. (after a nearly 2 year original Japanese release) was a terrific game that improved upon its predecessor in every way. Sadly it was released on a (I hate to say it) dying console, the PS2.
But I guess Japanese gamers were seriously awaiting this one as a boost in PS3 sales was concurrent with its release.
