Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits

New GH Game? Sweetness!

by Riphade

Announced a few days ago was the newest in Guitar Hero games. Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits. I know many of you out there are saying, "Oh god, not ANOTHER one!" However, this one sounds like a keeper.

Activision has made a good choice in the GH series this time.

Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits will be including (if you didn't already guess by now) some of the best hits from past GH's. It will have tracks from Guitar Hero, II, III Legends of Rock, and Rock the 80s. Except this time it will be with a FULL BAND.

8 tracks were announced with this news. They are:

  • "Them Bones" - Alice in Chians
  • "Killer Queen" - Queen
  • "Nothin' But A Good Time" - Poison
  • "Killing In The Name" - Rage Against The Machine
  • "I Wanna Rock" - Twisted Sister
  • "I Love Rock n Roll" - Joan Jett and The Blackhearts
  • "Barracuda" - Heart

...and everyone's favorite to hate...

  • "Through The Fire and Flames" - Dragonforce

Thanks goes out to Dominic for pointing it out AND reminding me to say so.

All the tracks will be master tracks.

In addition to that, Paul Gadbois of Beenox also said that they were adding updated sound, new twists to the guitar riffs, new solo challanges, and more.

Although this is pretty cool, I can't imagine these all being master tracks, but instead those terrible covers from the previous installments. The full band option is really awesome, but I bet it'll be $60 when it comes out. I'll probably only pick it up if it comes with HOLY DIVER.

If this were DLC, I would definitely get it. Pisses me off that GH is still winning the war with RB.

AWESOME! I might get this now that I know it's all master tracks, but DEFINITELY if Holy Diver is on there.

Im not gonna lie. Holy Diver would be awesome. Especially if they had BOTH versions.

@shagino: This should absolutely be DLC. Hell, they should let anyone who owns GH II or III put in their disks and export it for a few dollars.

Coop. While that is an awesome idea. Many of us out there (us being those with 360s) lack storage space and/or the money to upgrade. Think of RB1 tracks on RB2. Sure, it's ONLY 500 MSP, but it's 5+ gigs of memory.

Also, think of this. Activi$ion will charge you 160 MSP per song, right?

    48 (songs) x 160 (MSP) = 7,680 MSP
    $62.50 for 5,000 MSP online
$25 for 2,000 more MSP online

So far it's over $87 and you still don't have enough. You're saving money buying it as a complete disc AND game. Not to mention, new achievements.

I see what your saying, but part of my Utopian situation is that Activision would emulate both aspects of Rock Band's system, not just their download size.

Excellent point about storage space. I have this on the 360 as well. Since I don't save a lot on there, I didn't think of that.

I would pay the $60 for it if it was feasible as DLC. Activision's pricing strategy has been pretty horrible so far. It's such a party killer to have to switch discs while playing. Love that about RB.

As for achievements, Oblivion's expansion had achievments so I'm sure this could too.

Well, like we all know, I'm an achievement whore. I would prefer 1k over an extra 250. And, seeing as GH has never done the whole 1250, that idea would be even less likely.

Besides. Working soooo hard playing 48 newer songs just for 250GS seems unfair.

Ah yes, the great achievement factor. Our obsession with points and winning and status will drive us to spend so much money.

I'll bet Microsoft thanks their lucky stars everyday for inventing Achievement Points.

@loltim. I think Rick James said it best. Cocaine's a hell of a drug.

Now, just replace cocaine with achievements, lol.
