There have been some special edition, game-themed PS3s made before, and they are usually pretty snazzy, but this one seems especially nice. Maybe it’s because I’m a Final Fantasy junkie, maybe the pinkish-white colors are calming, or maybe I’m just batshit crazy and want every new gaming-related thing that I see, but this Final Fantasy XIII PS3 is really calling to me. Announced at Tokyo Game Show today, it’s a 250-gig slim model with character Lightning on it, as well as the game’s title. It’s not tacky or over-the-top, it’s just... pretty.

This PS3 will be out December 17 in Japan, but there’s no way of knowing whether or not it will come to other regions, particularly North America, where I live. Maybe we will get it when FFXIII comes overseas next spring, and maybe not. I know I already have a PS3, and that it would be totally impractical and frivolous to buy another one for no real reason, but logic is really taking a backseat to desire at the moment.
