It's been nearly four years since Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced, and I still don't have a clue what it's about. Square Enix announced the game along with FFXIII back in 2006, stating that the two would be part of the "Fabula Nova Crystallis" series, meaning that they will take place in the same universe, though they will have different characters and stories. There's also some dude, or maybe it's a chick, with gray hair who has popped up in the very few screenshots that have ever been released for Versus. That's pretty much it. That is, until series designer Tetsuya Nomura leaked a couple of details in a recent interview.

When responding to the question "How far along is Versus?", Nomura responded:

"Not everything is connected together, so the various areas have different levels of progress. However, you can fly across the world map in an air ship."

Wow! The details are just overwhelming! Okay, maybe not, but when pressed for more info Nomura said he wasn't allowed to give away anything else, including how far into development Versus is. I admit, this game definitely hasn't been on my radar; I've been more focused on Final Fantasy XIII for the last few years. Now that XIII is out, though, it's time to look to the future, meaning that maybe we'll actually hear more about Versus in the coming months. The airships and world map definitely sound promising, though. I'm enjoying XIII but I must admit that it is pretty linear for a game in this series.
