Activision and MTV Games Want the Beatles
So May I Introduce to You, The Act You’ve Known For All These Years
by Sarah
A few months ago, a rumor started floating around the interwebs that The Beatles, one of the biggest bands in the history of, well, everything, could be coming to Guitar Hero at some point in the future. Now it appears that Activision is not the only one who wants to get its hands on the Fab Four; MTV Games, the publisher of infinitely superior Rock Band, is also trying to get the band’s music, presumably for downloadable content. They want you, Beatles, they want you so bad.
According to Joystiq, representatives for The Beatles have met with the publishers of both music games, and words are flying out like endless rain into a paper cup. Apparently, there is a definite possibility that something will be announced soon. This is quite a feat, as licensing Beatles songs has been difficult in the past; as Joystiq points out, you can’t even find their music on iTunes. However, the absence of one of the most influential rock groups ever in both Guitar Hero and Rock Band has always seemed a little odd to me, so I’m really hoping that someone can make this work. Hey Activision, don’t make it bad.
Since The Beatles are probably my favorite band (I listen to Abbey Road every morning while I get ready for work), I couldn’t be more excited by this. In fact, this is probably one of the few things Activision could do to make me buy a Guitar Hero game ever again. Will my love for Guitar Hero grow? I don’t know, I don’t know. Personally, though, I think that The Beatles would be much better suited for Rock Band; that way, the whole band can get in on the experience, so you can get by with a little help from your friends. With that game doing full album DLC so well, it would be a much better fit than, say, Guitar Hero: The Beatles. I’ll be keeping an eye on this story as the news tumbles blindly as it makes its way across the universe.
Rumor: Guitar Hero Beatles on the Way?

The rights to their songs are so expensive... Hence why they were just put on the iTunes store a few months ago.
I can only imagine the horrid covers they'll probably end up with.
Still super exciting to hear!
Also, I really enjoy your I Want You So Bad reference.
Made me instantly switch my ipod to Abbey Road.
Lame. Who the hell would want to play those songs, they may be fun to listen to but they are fail when it comes to instrumentals.
That'd be great if the Beatles appeared on Rock Band. Anytime I play GH anymore I wish there was singing and drumming going on as well. Having the Beatles only appear on GH would be criminal.
But if this is successful what's next? Zeppelin?
I was going to say pretty much exactly what Coop said. Well played, sir.
