Atlus Announces Persona PSP for North America
Big Day for PSP News
by Sarah

Seriously, when is the last time a handful of PSP games were announced on the same day? Actually, when is the last time even one exciting PSP title was announced? At any rate, today has proven to be a big day for Sony’s handheld, and should have many PSP owners looking forward to using their portables again. Atlus has jumped on the bandwagon by finally announcing a North American version for the PSP remake of the original Persona. It will be out sometime this fall, Atlus stated in the short press release, along with the note “Leak this.”
Previously announced in Japan, I had assumed (or at least hoped) that the port of the previously Japan-only PS1 game would make its way to our shores at some point. However, hearing it straight from Atlus has made me even more excited about having a portable Persona. Along with LittleBigPlanet, Assassin’s Creed, and MotorStorm PSP incarnations due out before the end of the year, it appears that 2009 could indeed be the year of the PSP. Check out the short press release below.
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 24, 2009 - Atlus U.S.A., Inc, today announced that Shin Megami Tensei: Persona for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, a remake of the first entry in the critically-acclaimed RPG series, will be released in North America within the calendar year. SMT: Persona stands as a proud relaunch for the award-winning series, featuring a completely redone localization and content never before seen in North America. Combined with gameplay enhancements and additions new to the remake, fans will have the chance to experience the first Persona game released in North America in a whole new way. Those looking to see the original epic in a whole new light, those who missed out the first time around, and even those PSP system owners who crave a marquee RPG: that which you seek is approaching.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona is currently scheduled to release this fall.
