Atlus Coming to 360
For those unfamiliar with video game publisher Atlus, they’re the force behind two of the year’s best games, Odin Sphere and Persona 3. Though neither of these RPGs got the attention they deserved, the Atlus name has long been associated with quality games. Now the publisher, whose highly-anticipated Trauma Center sequel is hitting Wii consoles this week, is reported to be bringing two Japanese tactical RPGs to the Xbox 360.
The games, Operation Darkness and Spectral Force 3, have already been released in Japan, but this will be the first time the third-party publisher brings Xbox 360 games to the U.S. Spectral Force 3 will be set in a fantasy world embroiled in what is called the Great Neverland War, while Operation Darkness has players taking on a supernatural Adolf Hitler during World War II in an alternate universe.

I know it sounds strange, but so did a bunch of teenagers shooting themselves in the head to unleash special powers, and that turned out to be one of the best gaming experiences in recent history. I’m excited to see more role-playing titles on the 360, especially from a company that has made so many games I enjoy in the past. Dates haven’t been announced for either title yet, but I’m hoping I don’t have long to wait before I get to battle Bizarro Hitler.

I love Trauma Center but it's not for everyone. Their RPGs are amazing though, Persona 3 was one of the best games I've ever played. You know it's good when you finish it after 105 hours, none of them boring, and immediately think "I can't wait to play this game again."

Yeah, I haven't played a bad Atlus game yet. The only one I didn't like was Trauma Center, mostly because it just got too ridiculous. both in difficulty and story line. When I got to fighting bugs inside a guys body with a laser I was all kinds of finished with that game. Granted, I played the Wii version, not the DS version.

This is good news. I really like how Operation Darkness looks.

I know that many are stoked for this, but I'm not sure how well these games will sell on the 360. The machine has such a large shooter/sports infatuated user base, I don't know if American 360 owners will, as a whole, appreciate these 2D RPGs. I'm not saying none will, just wondering if they'll sell the same number of units as they did with their PS2 titles. Either way, 360 owners are lucky, Odin Sphere was one of the best RPGs I've ever played.
