Atlus Dungeon-Crawler Coming to PS2 and Wii
Between a couple of fantastic PS2 RPGs, a new installment in the Trauma Center series, and some solid DS games, Atlus has been having a good year, but they’re not stopping yet. After announcing that it plans to bring two Japanese RPGs to the Xbox 360 next year, it’s been confirmed that Atlus has another project in mind, this one a dungeon-crawling RPG for the Wii and the PS2.

Baroque, which is slated for release in early 2008, follows an amnesiac protagonist in a post-apocalyptic world filled with mysterious beings. Doesn’t sound like the most original plot, but this is Atlus we’re talking about here, which means it will be unusual if nothing else. The mystery hero is told that he must atone for his sin by going to the bottom of the Neuro Tower, and that by saving himself, he can also save the world.

While I can’t say it looks as intriguing as Odin Sphere or Persona 3, the Atlus name guarantees that I’ll at least give it a shot. There are definitely some intriguing aspects to the game that I'm interesting in seeing more of. We’ll just have to wait and see if Baroque will live up to Atlus’s reputation when it’s released next year.
