Bethesda Working on "Really Big" Wii Game
Not Jumping on Girly Game Bandwagon
by Sarah

Hey look everybody, it’s another announcement of an upcoming announcement! Yeah, I know that barely counts as news, but it’s two weeks before E3, so this is probably as good as it’s going to get. Bethesda is known for making some really awesome games (and unfortunately, some really broken downloadable content), and they have shown no signs of stopping. In fact, according to marketing director Sean Brennan, the publisher has a Wii game in the works, which will be announced later this year.
In an interview with GI.biz, Brennan hints at an upcoming Wii game, stating:
“We are going to make an announcement on a really big Wii game this year, we've got a couple of other things in the pipeline, and it's a format we're really looking at with the right approach.”
No worries about Bethesda jumping on the shovelware bandwagon like other publishers have, though. Brennan added these nuggets of wisdom:
“We're not going to establish a new range and call if 'My Girly Game Range' or whatever these other companies are doing, it's so me-too and boring… as soon as you spot the bandwagon, it's already too late. People don't get that. There are still some people jumping on the bandwagon but it's not within our business philosophy.”
I wonder if this mystery big Wii game is going to be announced at E3, and if it’s a port of one of their next-gen hits or something new altogether. Be sure to check out the rest of the interview, which is pretty interesting and also addresses the DLC issue. Meanwhile, I’ll begin speculation about what Bethesda is planning to announce this year. Oblivion with motion controls? Hmm…

Sarah, this Photoshop was choice.
Wii Fallout, an on-rails shooter
Fallout with Mii support?
Really big + Wii = oxymoron?
I'm pretty sure that the Wii doesn't support patches, so that might encourage them actually release a game that works right off the bat, instead of a broken one.
Longshot of the week: Bethesda buys another classic IP (this time from Interplay) and makes a 3D open-world Earthworm Jim game.
