Digital Distribution Not Mandatory for PSP Developers
PSPgo Owners Lack Third Party Games
by Sarah

Oh, Sony, you have really botched this whole PSPgo thing, haven't you? First the high price, then making upgraders re-buy all of their PSP games, now this. You may have noticed that other than the initial week of the PSPgo launch, the PSP Store has been a little lacking in downloadable games. Even as more PSP games are released in old-fashioned UMD form, quite a few third-party offerings have not been offered digitally. If you were wondering why this is, Sony has decided not to make digital distribution mandatory for third-party PSP developers and publishers, so it is up to them if they want to make games available for download. This means less third-party offerings for those who cracked and shelled out $250 for the PSPgo.
At this point I'm struggling to think of a single reason to own the latest model of Sony's handheld. Oh sure, it's light and sleek, but I've held on to my PSP-2000, which, you know, plays all the games I already have as well as new games coming out. Sony is really going to have to step in and do something to make the PSPgo more than a gigantic waste of time and money.

why do they insist on being so stupid?? i love my psp-2000 enough that i probably *would* have shelled out the money for the go if only they had half a brain about how to make it useful.
If PSPgo owners are starved for content, there's always the 13,000 downloadable TV shows
Like I said earlier, EPIC FAIL.
Dear Sony,
I know you want to curb used game sales but you can't have it both ways. If you really want a cut of that money, cut a deal with the stores for it. After all, they didn't really get a break when they bought Lair and Haze, right? Used games are never going to go away until bandwidth increases(and gets cheaper), HW is more stable, and games get cheaper. It's not the same as buying a $1 iPhone crap game.
I was asking the opinion of a friend of mine that works at Gamestop about the PSPgo, and he agrees with me that the thing is a waste of time for people that want to play video games. What I mean is that, due to the lack of a UMD slot, Sony has just made a (much smaller) version of its netbook. The only difference between them is that the PSPgo cannot be used in certain WiFi hot spots and that the screen is smaller.
Thanks, Sony, for producing another media player that has blue tooth technology and Skype.
