Finally! What seems like a million years after it was announced, PSN exclusive Fat Princess has finally been given a release date: this Thursday, July 30. The supersized game has been getting lots of good buzz, and early impressions have been positive. The game will be $14.99, and if the multiplayer offers as much fun as I think it will, that should be more than a fair price. Like Braid last summer, Fat Princess has the potential to be a standout downloadable title, and one that the PS3 definitely needs.

In Fat Princess, teams try to rescue their princess, which has been captured by the opposing team. Additionally, you can feed the enemy’s princess to make her fatter and harder for them to move. It’s a funny concept, and even though I haven’t played it yet, I think it could be very entertaining. This week’s PlayStation Store update just got a lot better.
