Like most sane people, I’m a huge fan of the Professor Layton series, and the second game, Diabolical Box, was one of my favorite games of the year. I’m anxiously awaiting the third game in the series, Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel, which came out in Japan in 2008 and was hinted for a North American release at the end of Diabolical Box. Japan, those lucky jerks, got the fourth game in the series, Professor Layton and the Devil’s Flute, this week. And that’s not all: the next game in the series, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, was officially announced by developer Level-5.

Let’s see, if all goes well, we should be getting Miracle Mask in North America around 2012. Hopefully the world won’t end so we can find out what Luke and Layton are up to in their fifth adventure. In the meantime, Level-5 needs to get to work on localizing Last Time Travel, because I am going to be quite angry if it’s not out in North America next year.
