Final Fantasy VII, 8-Bit Style
What the Epic Game Would Look Like on the NES
by Sarah
We all know Final Fantasy VII, yes? Spiky-haired blonde guy, scary villain with a long sword, chick with the flowers, big yellow chicken-like creatures? The game helped put the RPG genre on the map in the western hemisphere, and the graphics were revolutionary when it came out in 1997 for the PS1.
However, the question has always remained: what would FFVII have looked like if it came out on the NES? Okay, to be honest, I never actually asked that question, but someone did. And then, someone made it happen. A technology company released a completely unofficial version of Final Fantasy VII for the NES. The port has done away with some side quests and optional characters, but apparently most of the original story remains intact, which is quite a feat. But don’t just take my word for it; see for yourself!
An awesome job, for sure, but I think I’ll stick with polygonal graphics for now. Besides, FFVII without chocobo racing, Yuffie, and Vincent just wouldn’t feel right.

Yuffie is the dealbreaker for me. Well, that, and I don't speak Japanese.
You don't speak Japanese?
YOU LIED TO ME!
This is a huge technical achievement, but they should have ported it to SNES or GBA so it could pretty much have everything.
I haven't played VII, and the PSX era is so damned ugly that I would rather play this then that.
what? they made barret white!
