First Persona Coming to PSP

At Least, it is in Japan

by Sarah

If you’ve been paying attention Gamervision since I’ve been working here, you know that I have been a serious fan of Shin Megami Tensei’s Persona series since Persona 3 came out in the U.S. in 2007. Persona 4 followed suit this year by being equally, if not more, incredible, so naturally I have an interest in the earlier Persona games that came out on the PS1 in the 1990s. Unfortunately, copies of the original game are hard to find and go for well over $100 on eBay. However, Japanese RPG fans might be in luck, as Revelations: Persona is apparently coming to the PSP in Japan this April.

According to Kombo, the port of the original game in the series will feature new characters and plot points, as well as a few other gameplay elements. Now for the bad news: no North American or PAL release dates have been announced just yet. I’m really hoping this comes to the U.S., and soon; the PSP new releases list is getting smaller and smaller, and I would really love something new to play on Sony’s handheld. We’ll keep you posted.

I hate Japanese exclusivity these days. I once looked at a software listing for releases and Japan [and Europe] had enough differences in releases to make me sick to my stomach. We're not liked so much even though we (the United States) are Japan's best customer.

If they brought over even half the stuff they make for themselves everyone would be happier for it. We would have software and hardware that is enjoyable and they would have a lot of money in return.

    Simple, right?

@QMarc80: I don't think its because Japan doesn't like us, I think its strickly marketing. They don't want to release a shit ton of titles that may not do well over seas like when it does well in its home country.

Yeah, there are many people out there that want to play Japanese exclusive titles, but I don't think Japan has tested the demographic for this market :/ or that population doesn't seem big enough.

Yeah, I think it's basic supply and demand, Marc.

Release too many title here, the market for Japanese titles gets flooded and none of them really do all that well.

The way it is now, they can release a sub par Japanese title in the US, and all the Otaku are clamoring over it even if they know it's just "meh".

If it does come out here, I sure hope they bring the Snow queen quest in it too.

Now where's my legal english copy of Innocent Sin?
