Gamecock Apologizes For Crashing VGAs
And the Ceremony was So Respectable Up Until That Point
by Sarah
Gamecock’s really doing their part to earn their name lately. Last month, they ditched the Philadelphia VGXPO last minute, leaving a giant empty space in the middle of the convention center. This week, they decided to crash Spike TV’s Video Game Awards during the Game of the Year presentation, which was being accepted by Ken Levine for BioShock.
They have since issued a formal apology for the incident, stating that "the award acceptance they interrupted was the LAST one we would have wanted to interrupt, as we have the utmost respect and love for BioShock and all who were involved in it, and it totally sucks that Ken Levine didn't get to speak after making such a fantastic game."
Since I’ve also named BioShock among my games of the year, I have to say I agree. However, it’s not like anyone was taking the VGAs seriously up until that point anyway. We are talking about an awards ceremony for video games that makes up categories so it can give awards to Halo 3 and has the winning games painted on naked women. I doubt that many serious gamers were even tuned in until the end of the show anyway. Still, Gamecock was out of line, and their prank wasn’t even funny. Maybe next time they’ll find a way to garner attention without it being negative.

their prank was so flat, it was painful to watch.
wow, that was a prank? wtf is "for the children."
i've never watched the vgas but just seeing that clip makes me want to steer clear of it for the rest of my life.
Dear god did that go poorly.
Way to look like gigantic douche nozzles, Gamecock.
Between the body-painting, and the stage that even MTv has abandoned for its awards shows, GameCock was the best thing going on in that vid!
What? People were watching this? =O
