Gamecock Bought Out By SouthPeak
I'm Guessing They Won't Encourage Crashing Awards Shows
by Sarah

Gamecock, a 2007 Pwny Award Winner and Austin-based game publisher, has just been bought by fellow publisher SouthPeak, who you may know from such broken pieces of garbage masterpieces as Two Worlds. SouthPeak sent out a press release announcing the acquisition this morning in which CEO Melanie Mroz stated that SouthPeak will give Gamecock’s upcoming releases (including the highly-anticipated Velvet Assassin) “a bigger platform to succeed”. Mike Wilson of Gamecock also made a statement in the release:
"We are thrilled to be joining forces with SouthPeak to continue to bring great original titles from independent developers to market with a stronger sales and distribution reach... We have followed each other's progress closely over the last two years, and combining our team with theirs results in a very strong and well-rounded force in the market."
I’m not sure how to feel about this, as Gamecock has had some notable misses in the video game department recently. Still, it’s not like SouthPeak has the best reputation for quality games, either. We have contacted Gamecock to get more information on the merger, so stay tuned for more information as it develops. Whew, I got through that whole article without making a penis joke... oh, crap.

I just hope no one gets shafted by this acquisition.
I wonder if SouthPeak will make a move for Johnson & Johnson next... (anyone? anyone?)
Sean, that joke was way to inappropriate to go uncommented upon. (golf clap)
