GamePro Study Tests Which Controller Has the Best Battery Life
And the Winner Is...
by Sarah
The next generation of video game consoles is here, and one thing is for sure: wired controllers are so over. The 360, Wii, and PS3 all use wireless controllers, and the freedom they offer is fantastic. What’s not so fantastic is having to change or recharge the batteries they use constantly. And as someone who has all three systems can tell you, all controllers are not created equally.
GamePro decided to test the battery life of the controllers, which yielded the following results:
I must say that I’m a little surprised that the Wii remote batteries lasted so long. I know mine died at least 3 or 4 times while I was playing Twilight Princess, which was a 60-hour game. Then again, that could be because I’m cheap and buy crappy, generic-brand batteries. It should also be noted that while the PS3 controller’s battery life was shortest, the SIXAXIS is the only controller that comes with an internal rechargeable battery, so you don’t need to keep shelling out for double-As.
As for the Xbox 360 and Wii, I’d highly recommend shelling out for rechargeable batteries for both systems. Trust me, you will end up saving a lot more money in the long run. And hats off to the 360 for having the longest-lasting wireless controller, despite also having rumble capabilities. You win this generation, Microsoft.

I read that using rechargeable batteries along with the Wii Mote charger will ruin your Wii Mote....just a heads up....
I've been using the Nyko rechargeable battery stand for my Wii for almost a year, and I've never had a problem with it.
