GameStop: Wii Shortage Not Stopping Anytime Soon
Also Breaking: Water Still Wet, Earth Round
by Sarah

Oh boy, here we go. By now, I think, most of us have Wii systems, although whether or not we use them on a regular basis is a different issue entirely. However, there are still people out there fiending for Nintendo’s little white console, and they just can’t get their fix. November will mark two years since the Wii launched, and guess what? They will be just as hard to get this holiday season as they were in 2006, according to GameStop CEO Dan DeMatteo in an interview with Gamedaily:
“I've never seen this type of demand before. I know they're making more, but we're still short like everybody else. I think we'll have a continued shortage this Christmas.”
Can I just take a second here to say that the demand for the Wii is just amazing before you all start flaming the comments section with your hatred for both Nintendo and GameStop? Yes, I know, GameStop is an evil corporation that eats babies, and Nintendo is creating a shortage on purpose because they got bored with making money, and you know better than anyone because you read teh interwebs. All I’m saying is that if you’re going to try and get someone you know a Wii for Christmas (because they really do make lovely gifts), better start trying now rather than waiting until Black Friday to curse out some poor GameStop employee for not having the system in stock.

here, i bought you a wii. No it does not have games, no you will not play it but I thought it was so cute so here it is.
no new news here, people are still for some reason buying this system.
wow, gamestop eats babies? maybe they're eating all the surplus wiis too! or maybe the extra babies are bogarting all the extra wiis to play animal crossing in the back rooms of gamestops everywhere.
in all seriousness, it really is incredible that there are still "shortages" of a product that was released almost two years ago. it's sort of sad to think that a lot of people own a wii but don't use it, while at the same time there are so many people who want a wii but can't get their hands on one. even if this was some evil plot on the part of nintendo (or gamestop, or babies), it sure has worked to their advantage.
I already owned and got rid of a Wii system. It's not worth it. I don't know why people want it so much. Kind of annoying to tell a parent to get an XBox360 or a PS3 for their kid. "I want to play with my kid" they say. You can do that with the other systems, too. Just gotta find the right game is all.
you know Q, everyone says "hey I can play it with my kid or hey my mom can play it" but how many mom's, dad's or grandparents actually play it?? I know people with the Wii and their family never touches it, hell they don't even touch it.
To me it is truly a waste of 250 bucks. Would be better off getting a NDS and some games with the money or if you want a console buckle down a get a real home console.
I got one on at launch for my birthday, and I've played it just about everyday. Right now, it's the only "next-gen" system I own because my wife keeps my balls in a jar, in a safe, in a desk, in dark room. And I'm afraid of the dark, so yeah.
I have about 14 games. I guess I'm some sort of weird radioactive mutant because I A) like and enjoy my Wii, and B) buy third party games.
I also have had my Wii since launch, love it, and play it often. I have a 360 and PS3 too, as well as 11 other systems, so it's not like that's my only option, but I enjoy the Wii. Obviously not every game for it is golden, but just stay away from the shovelware.
Or don't play the Wii, but just because you don't like it doesn't make it a waste of time and money to others.
RADIOACTIVE MUTANTS!!!
Im a launch date owner. didn't need to return the damned thing yet. the shovelware that I stack on the shelves at GS is overwhelming but when you buy a nintendo console you buy it for the first party gems.
Wario Land anyone?
I'm really starting to feel icky for buying a Wii at launch. Yes, Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros.... I've heard all the arguments for the system, but for me, I just can't find a title that holds my attention and makes me want to play more than just the first couple hours.
