Ghostbusters Game Gets Summer 2009 Release Date
Only Eight Months Late
by Sarah

If you haven’t been following the Activision/Blizzard merger and its aftermath, here’s a quick refresher course: when the two publishers merged, many Sierra games hit the chopping block, either getting cancelled or finding themselves in limbo without a publisher. One of these titles was the highly anticipated Ghostbusters game, which was due out last October. It has since been picked up by Atari, who is no stranger to money woes. Well, to finally get to the point here, Atari has announced a date (or month, rather) when we can expect to bust some ghosts: June 2009.
This news comes from CVG, and according to the site Atari has officially confirmed this, although they wouldn’t get too specific with the release date. I don’t doubt that it will make it out next summer, because it was near completion when Activision decided to drop it for reasons I still can’t understand. This could be a great opportunity for Atari, and something that can really help in the Phil Harrison-assisted comeback the publisher has been trying to make. Personally, I hope Ghostbusters turns out to be amazing and sells well on every system, but we’ll have to wait a few more months to find out if that’s the case.

I always think the delays are just to hype the games
Eh, not in this case. Changed companies, spent millions of dollars advertising a Winter release, and nearly canceled it.
