Stop me if you've heard this story before! About a week ago, we reported that Gran Turismo 5 might be facing a delay courtesy of a new November release date in GameStop's computer. No one believed us, and Sony stated that this report was "in error". Fast forward to today, when it appears that, guess what, Sony has official delayed Gran Turismo 5. Who saw this coming? Oh, right. Us.

In a press release roughly translated from Japanese by Joystiq, Sony announced that GT5 would not be making its March release date in Japan. No one is sure what this means for the North American release date, which was supposedly the vague "summer 2010". As of right now, the release date in Japan "to be announced", and I'm going to guess North America won't see this game until November, or at least the general 2010 holiday season. I wonder what the hold-up is; it's been in development for years and a demo was recently released, which would seem to indicate that it was nearing completion. We'll let you know if Sony gives us any more information about the delay, or if GameStop changes its release date for the game again, since that seems to be as good an indicator as any as to whether or not Gran Turismo 5 is ever coming out.
