Rock Band DLC? Who needs it? Sure, they may be getting twelve songs from The Who this month, and that may be in addition to the awesome library of downloadable content the game already has, but so what? And who needs weekly DLC from Rock Band when you can have sporadic, half-assed downloads for Guitar Hero III? Forget you, Rock Band! Guitar Hero III is where it’s at!

Case in point: to celebrate the Fourth of July, Guitar Hero III owners will be treated to the Top Gun theme—absolutely free! This is totally the best news ever! In fact, I… uh, I… oh, crap, I broke the sarcasm generator. I think I overdid it. Okay, this is actually kind of lame, and once again proves to the world that Guitar Hero completely fails on every level when it comes to DLC, whereas Rock Band has been doing it right since day one. The Top Gun theme? You think that’s gonna win people over when they could have The Who, Boston, Blondie, The Pixies, and so on? Nice try, Guitar Hero.
