Early 2007: Official Xbox Magazine printed a review of the 1982 Tron arcade game, as well as its sequel, Discs of Tron, announcing that both games were to be released on Xbox Live this year. The games, which are based on the cult favorite Disney movie, haven’t seen the light of day in many years, but since 2007 marked the film’s 25th anniversary, they were finally going to get their long-anticipated re-release. Or so we thought.
October 2007: Tron for the Xbox Live Arcade has yet to be seen in any form. In fact, it seems to have completely dropped off the radar. Various websites reported in May of this year that these games were due for a summer release. They were even shown at E3 this year, with promises of both the games in their original glory, as well as enhanced versions for a new generation of gamers. However, there has been no news about the games in months.
You can’t tell me this game doesn’t look awesome.
So what happened? Was there not enough interest? Was the game marred by technical issues? Did someone just forget to put it on the damn arcade? Does anyone know? With the year 2007 one foot out the door, it seems like a 25th anniversary release is quickly becoming implausible. If this game isn’t released soon, will it never be seen again?
You may think that this issue doesn’t concern you, and it’s entirely possible that you weren’t even born in 1982 and have no idea what Tron is, but it’s time to wake up and face the facts. If a game like Tron can disappear without a trace so easily, what’s next? No more Sonic or Street Fighter games on XBLA? It could happen to anyone.

If you have any information that could lead to the whereabouts of this game, please, let us know. We’re counting on you to do your part.

For a fantastic Tron-type kick play the old Half-Life modification Ricochet. Its a trip, letmetellya.
Let's get Jeff Bridges on the phone.
You know what else Tron needs? A Blu-Ray re-release. That would be tits.
Anyway, I can remeber playing this and the original Star Wars arcade game where you flew Death Star trench runs (later to be remade on the Sega 32X).
I have been waiting for this ever since I saw the news on someother site that isn't as great as Gamervision. But c'mon, XBOX, where's my lightcylces? Where's my disc battle game? TROOOOOOON!
