Is EA Sports Active Coming to 360 and PS3?

Yes, According to Some Guy’s Resume

by Sarah

Hot on the heels of news that Rare may be working on a Natal-compatible fitness game, superannuation has posted the resume of an EA programmer with 360 and PS3 versions of EA Sports Active listed on his resume. Sean Quinn, Lead Systems Programmer for EA, previously worked on Grand Slam Tennis, NHL 07 and 08, and a handful of other EA titles over the last few years. While there’s absolutely no confirmation from EA that their exer-game is coming to Sony’s and Microsoft’s systems, this doesn’t seem like a typo.

The exact text as listed on Quinn’s resume is as follows:

September 2009 – Present » Electronic Arts Canada » Lead Systems Programmer

Titles

• EA SPORTS Active (Xbox 360/PS3)

Accomplishments

• Developed a modular/Dll/PRX component framework
• Created a data driven messaging system
• Involved in management and scope planning
• Contributed to plans for outsourcing
• Designed and implemented core engine technologies
• Created bindings between Lua and the core engine
• Presented to other groups about our designs and plans
• Developed the DLC plan
• Performed extensive debugging and optimization

As popular as workout games on the Wii are, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if EA was porting Sports Active to the PS3 and 360; I can also imagine how a DLC plan would suit . I’d expect these versions to be compatible with Natal and the PlayStation Eye (and presumably the “arc” motion controller as well). As sad as it is, I can fully imagine gamers being more motivated by Achievements than health benefits as a reason for working out. If this is legit, I’d imagine an official announcement would be coming in the next few months (E3 at the latest), with a holiday 2010 release date. We’ll see how accurate we are in the coming weeks.
