Is Rare Working on a Natal Fitness Game?
I Don't See Why They Wouldn't
by Sarah

With Natal coming out in less than a year (supposedly), rumors are already floating around that a fitness game for Microsoft's motion sensor might be in the works. According to Destructoid, developer Rare may be working on some sort of exercise title that utilizes Natal... and that's about all anyone knows right now. So, yes, we'll definitely file this under "rumor" for now. However, I do think this move would make total sense, so I'll begin the wild speculation below.
I'm the only person I know in real life who still uses the Wii for exercise (my current exer-game of choice is EA Sports Active: More Workouts), so I've given some thought to how fitness games could work on another system. Ubisoft already explored the idea of controller-free workouts with My Shape, but if Natal works as well as it's supposed to, the peripheral could take that idea even further. Also, the 360 has something that the Wii does not: achievements. As sad as it may be, I honestly believe that gamers will be more motivated to work out if they can add to their Gamerscores while doing so. Add to that the 360's technological superiority over the Wii, and there's a chance for Rare to corner the exer-game market on Microsoft's system right off the bat. Hell, I'd more than likely give it a shot, especially if this mystery product manages to blur the line between working out and gaming more than past titles on the Wii have.
If we hear any more information about this, I'll be sure to let you know, since I likely care more than anyone else at Gamervision, or possibly in the world.
