Japanese Theaters Get 3D FFXIII Trailer Before Avatar
American Theaters Get Commercials for Crappy Sitcoms

Unlike some publishers, Square Enix knows how to properly get gamers hyped for an upcoming game. True, when that game has the words “Final” and “Fantasy” in it, their job is half done, but they’re doing the rest right. I thought releasing new Final Fantasy XIII media on the thirteenth of every month was a good idea, but Squenix is doing even better in Japan—the publisher has remade some footage from the game to appear in a 3D trailer that will run in theaters before showings of James Cameron’s Avatar. You know, I kind of want to see that trailer in theaters more than I want to see Avatar.
Of course, I don’t live in Japan, and even if this trailer makes it onto the internets, it won’t be the same as experiencing it in a theater setting with my 3D glasses on. This is still pretty neat, and I would love to start seeing trailers for big games running before films in North America. It would sure beat the lame-ass commercials they show before movies in my local theaters.

So... wait, is the game going to be in 3D, too? That would be... a thing, I guess. For the ten people with 3D tvs.
The game is not in 3D, they just redid a couple minutes of footage in 3D for the movie trailer.
