I never got into the whole Katamari thing, but I know there are plenty of people who go nuts for rolling everything in sight into a great big ball. These Katamari junkies will be thrilled to hear that an apparent high-def reimagining of the first game in the series will be coming to the PS3 later this year, according to Siliconera.

The news comes from a Japanese magazine, which Siliconera has scanned but didn’t name. Since I don’t read Japanese, I can’t be 100% sure what the article says. However, with the words “Tribute” and “PS3” visible, it does seem feasible that Katamari Damacy Tribute is coming, at the very least to Japan. We’ll have more on this if and when Namco makes an official announcement, so stay tuned.
