Lost & Damned GTA IV Expansion Sets Xbox Live Records
Highest First Day Revenue Ever
by Sarah

After much anticipation and a slight delay, Grand Theft Auto IV’s first expansion, The Lost & Damned, came out last week, and it was kind of a big deal. It’s done well critically, and despite it being nearly a year since GTA IV came out, there is still enough interest in the game that people want to play the expansion. How much interest? Well, let’s just say that, according to Microsoft, Lost & Damned “eclipsed first-day revenue for all previous downloadable content on Xbox LIVE.” That means it made more money in the first 24 hours of availability than any other XBL title in the same time period.
Of course, to be fair, Lost & Damned is $20, which means it’s more expensive than most content on Xbox Live. Microsoft also didn’t state specifics about exactly how much money was made, or how many times the DLC was downloaded. Still, that doesn’t mean that this isn’t a victory for Lost & Damned, and will hopefully show developers how to do DLC right in the future. Obviously, people will pay the price if the content and quality is there.
