More Yoga Coming to the Wii

Exercise Your Mind, Body, and Soul in 2009

by Sarah

Since the launch and success of Wii Fit, it was only a matter of time before more exercise-related “games” started making their way onto the console. JoWood Productions is the first to get on board, announcing the balance board-compatible Wii Yoga, scheduled for a 2009 release. Calling it a “lifestyle game”, this is apparently only the first title of this nature the publisher has in development.

According to JoWood, yoga, “the well-known and favored doctrine for mind, body and soul guarantees a unique gaming experience for young and young at heart gamers”. Wow, that was fairly cheesy, but I guess if it gets people to exercise, more power to them. I don’t know that I would necessarily call yoga a “game”, though; that might be a little bit of false advertising.

I guess this is a good idea, as it would certainly add more variety to the daily Wii workouts (assuming anyone is still using the balance board in 2009). Personally, I would rather see something like Wii Aerobics, but my guess is someone will come out with something like that sooner or later. I just hope that this game allows you to do more than one two-minute yoga pose at a time; if it’s presented more like an actual yoga class, I might be interested.

Yeah, gotta love the Nintendo guilt trips. Also, my Wii Fit keeps asking me how Luke is doing, which is kinda creepy.

You know, this is how all that trouble started in the Matrix. First the Wii keeps people from going outside...then it takes over. Just wait until we're all playing super paper mario in Zion!
