Nintendo DSi Already Being Pirated
Who Saw That Coming?
by Sarah

When the Nintendo DSi launched last month, it had a bunch of nifty new features, and one not-so-nifty feature (if you enjoy playing games illegally)—the latest version of Nintendo’s dual-screened handheld made R4 carts obsolete. Now, I’m sure you have no idea what an R4 is, but believe it or not, some people use these devices to play video games new and old on their DS systems without paying for them. I hope Nintendo didn’t spend too long patting itself on the back for a job well done, because the DSi has only been out a little over a month, and already there’s a new pirating device on the market.
Called the Supercard DSONEi, the device is a flashcart designed not only to allow you to play pirated games, but to get around Nintendo’s pesky system updates. When Nintendo releases a firmware update that circumvents the Supercard, the DSONEi will also have a firmware update, putting you back in the pirating game. Of course, this only works as long as the flashcart continues to be supported, but right now it’s the only option you’ve got—other than paying for games legally and using the system how it was supposed to be used, of course.

I did! I saw it coming. While ago, actually.....
Well, that was quick. Not unexpected, but quick.
Lousy pirates...
I told others of this happening months ago. I said it would be two months. Sure, I was one month shy, but hey! I was also right! So...ARGH!!!!
All it promises is that it will play DS games. DSi games can't be pirated yet simply because they havn't released a DSi specific game. Maybe the DSi reads those cards differently, so there's no way to tell if this will work with those games.
So really, the DSi hasn't been pirated yet. The DS has been pirated on the DSi.
