Nintendo Employees Each Worth $1.6 Million in Profit
I'd Like Some of That Cash, Please
by Sarah

Kotaku has some interesting news today, via the Financial Times, a publication that I couldn't care much less about. It’s no secret that Nintendo has been rolling in the dough this generation, with their best-selling-things-ever Wii and DS flying off store shelves years into their lifespans. As it turns out, Nintendo employees generate $1.6 million in profit each, more than those of Google or even Goldman Sachs, which Wikipedia tells me is “a large global investment banking, securities and investment management firm”. That means absolutely nothing to me, as I really don’t care about money management unless someone is managing to give me some. However, I’m told this is impressive.
Now, this doesn’t mean that each Nintendo employee actually earns $1.6 million annually, just that when you divide Nintendo’s profits by the number of people working for the company, that’s what you get. So, there’s your mildly remarkable bit of information that has absolutely no bearing on anything else for the day: Nintendo = $$$. Done and done.

i wonder what this means, if anything, for the employees. can they ask for raises?

I'd like to see how much each Gamestop employee is worth. Likely about $1.50.
Minimum wage is cool with me.
One would think that this could be used as a bargaining chip for employees, until one considers that this kind of valuation places the same dollar amount on the contribution of Miyamoto and the guy who empties the trash.
