Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime Promises Good E3 Showing

I Feel Like I've Heard That Before

by Sarah

Is talking about Nintendo’s stinker of an E3 press conference last year passé yet? I sure hope not, because the longtime publisher lost a lot of fans that day, and made lifelong gamers wary that the company would have anything to offer me in the foreseeable future. This year, though? This year, things are going to be different! At least, that’s what Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime had to say about it. Speaking with GameTrailers TV, Reggie stated, "From Nintendo's perspective, we always go into E3 with a very high bar wanting to satisfy not only the core fans but also ourselves.” Really? So what was last year all about?

I’ll admit, Nintendo had some solid announcements at GDC this year, including The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (which still has no release date, so I would expect that to come out of E3). However, I’m not exactly optimistic about what else they’ll have to offer this year. And also, Reggie, and everyone else at Nintendo, a word of advice: please stop using the phrase “core gamers”. You have repeatedly proven that you have no idea what it means, and it just makes me cringe every time I hear it.

We’ll find out more at Nintendo’s press conference on June 2, so stay tuned to Gamervision for more E3 news than you can even handle. In the meantime, let’s start making predictions about what Nintendo will announce this year. A new Mario? A new controller peripheral?

I'm still holding out hope for the Twilight Princess follow-up and the Kid Icarus revamp. But what do I know? I'm just a core gamer.

I think the biggest thing I can realistically hope for is the first "must have" DSi game.

I'm with loltim- until I hear otherwise, I'm holding out hope for a Wii Zelda game.

Looking back, the original DS looked kind of cool...

I'm hoping for a new Pikmin, myself. None of this PLAY ON WII garbage.

I expect nothing, and therefore, do not set myself up for disappointment.

And I still don't understand what the big deal was with last year... I would have thought people saw it coming.
