UPDATED! No Rock Band For Gamervision

There is No Joy in the Office Today

by Sarah

So today was supposed to be a big day, a day that I have been waiting to arrive for what seems like eons. Today was supposed to be the day that my rock star fantasies finally came true. Today was the launch of Rock Band.

I was so ready to rock.

Everyone in the office was very psyched, and Sean, Joe, and I went straight to GameStop this morning, arriving in the shopping center before the store even opened because we were so excited to play Rock Band. Being the smart, sensible gamers that we are, we already had a copy reserved, so we were guaranteed to be rocking out within the hour. Or so we thought.

As it turned out, through a major oversight on someone’s part (we’re not sure whose), what we actually had reserved was the game only, NOT the Rock Band bundle. That would have been fine, except for the fact that the individual instruments are not going to be available until 2008. Neither of the nearby GameStops had any copies for walk-ins, and K-Mart was already sold out by the time we got there, so we’re just out of luck today.

This wasn’t what we wanted!

I woke up at 6:00 this morning ready to rock, and sadly, I am looking at a rock-free day. The best part about it is that I mercilessly teased my GameStop friends who are going to be working all day today, making sure they knew that I was going to be playing Rock Band before them. Even better is the fact that on our way to the store where we thought our bundle was reserved, we passed another GameStop with a bunch of people lined up outside and mocked them.

The silver lining of this whole experience is that our friends at GameStop were nice enough to arrange to have a copy transferred in from another store, so when it arrives later on we’ll be able to pick it up and ensure that tomorrow, then, is not devoid of rock. I also plan to spend a large portion of Thanksgiving day rocking out. Still, nothing quite makes up for the thrill of playing a game the minute it comes out. I guess when Rock Band II is announced, we’ll be a little more careful about what we’re reserving.

UPDATE! Sean and Joe disappeared a little before lunch and came back with our very own copy of ROCK BAND!! This is the most fun I've had in a long time. If you can get your hands on a copy, I recommend that you do so immediately!

i had to go through a gauntlet of terror to get mine, roads were shut down... traffic was a mess. I must admit it felt kind of weird carrying that massive box to get mine back to my car.

For those about to rock we salute you.

Some where there is a child crying and cursing Sean and Joe for stealing his game. Shame on you.

I rocked so hard I have two bands so far to manage and I'm sure the list will grow and grow. I can't wait till they patch it so I can do world tour online. I must say though I love the name!!!!

we'll see who rocks hardest. based on the guitar hero skills of your band, I don't think I have to worry.
