Orange Box Content to Be Sold Separately

Now There's Really No Excuse Not to Play Portal

by Sarah

Valve’s Orange Box, as has been said many times, was probably the best video game deal in history. Additionally, it was one of 2007’s highest-rated games and a strong contender for Game of the Year. Now, EA has announced that it will release three of the collection’s games separately for PC: Half-Life 2 Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal.

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but I love Portal. If, for some insane reason I can’t comprehend, you have a working PC and haven’t played this game yet, for the love of God, scoop it up immediately. This move didn’t make the a lot of sense to me at first, since all of the Orange Box’s content is so good and available at such a good price, so why wouldn’t you want it all? But I guess if you didn’t want to buy Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 a second time, this is the way to go. Either way, go buy Portal.

I don't really see paying for them all separately when you can just get the box... it seems to me like Valve would have been better served (in terms of sales) by first releasing all the games separately and then dropping the Orange Box on us.

I concur with Sean. They are making a pricey mistake in my opinion.

Btw, Mellow I liked portal and all, but its not worth 60 bucks

Pretty cool for people who just want to play portal. But Sean is right, they did this backwards.

I thought Valve was just after my wallet after releasing the Portal merch (most of which I do own...) but this is borderline redundant.

    Ah well. *opens wallet*
