Penny Arcade Adventures Episode Two Goes Gold

Gets a Vague Date and New Price Point

by Sarah

One of the things I was hoping to hear at PAX this year was the announcement of a date for the second episode of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness. Unfortunately, Hothead games was not ready to say anything about it at the time, but today they sent out a press release announcing that Episode Two has officially gone gold. Hothead CEO Vlad Ceraldi stated the following in the release:

"Episode One was a huge investment for us and established a great base from which we built Episode Two. It allows us to focus even more on the fans in developing future games in the series… Our new game has a lot of great enhancements that were made possible by direct fan interaction and we are extremely excited to get our game into their hands and get their feedback."

Hothead also said that the game’s price would be $14.99—a full five dollars cheaper than the first episode. That’s pretty surprising given that the first episode sold like crazy despite its twenty-dollar price, but hey, I’ll take a discount. While no official date was given, according to Hothead the game will be out in “Fall 2008”, so we shouldn’t have long to wait.

In all honesty, the first game was EASILY worth 20 dollars. I suspect that this one will be as well.

And guess what, it's been "Fall 2008" for over a week now. It could drop any....minute now......wait for it ..................waaaaait for it.......

loltim, I respectfully disagree, and I'll tell you why: all four episodes would have come to $80. It's a fun game, but unless something amazing happens, it's not worth $80 total.

I agree, Tim, I felt like I got $20 out of the first game, but also, Nick Dynmo is right that $80 is steep for the complete experience. Also, I'm a cheap bastard, so I'll take a discount when I can get it.

    Wait, is it here yet?!?!?!

No..... damn you, vague "fall 2008" release date!
