Persona 4 Being Developed For PS2

Who Needs Next-Gen?

by Sarah

In 2007, the first year that all three next-gen systems were available on the market, my favorite game of the year was on the seven-year-old PS2. That’s pretty surprising, but less so when you consider that the game, Shin Megami Tensei's Persona 3, was made by one of the biggest names in RPGs and published by Atlus, who also has a solid line of great games to their name.

I can’t even imagine what’s coming next.

It’s now been reported that Persona 4 is in the works with a tentative date falling somewhere in the next fiscal year, and once again developers are choosing to stay with the PlayStation 2. While this hasn’t been confirmed by Atlus yet, it wouldn’t be all that surprising considering that the PS2 is still outselling the PS3. Atlus also has had a lot of success with games on that platform, and the PS2 was always the place to go for role-playing games last generation.

As for me, I’ll be the first one to buy it regardless of what system it appears on, though it’s hard to imagine any game surpassing the greatness of Persona 3. The developers of the next installment certainly have their work cut out for them.

Sarah has a direct line to Santa. She must have been "nice" this year.

persona 3 is that game that you were always talking about in gamestop. Is it the one were the characters shoot themselves in the head to like unleash their spirit or something... looks pretty cool
