It’s a good week to be both a gamer and a fan of Queen. Wait, I’m both of those things! Awesome! Not only is a buttload of Queen DLC coming to Rock Band this week, but MTV Games just announced that the beloved band will be further immortalized in LEGO Rock Band. The iconic Freddie Mercury will appear alongside bandmates Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor, with “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions” being featured in the game. I’m pretty sure Brian May’s excitement says it all: “This is IT! I wanna play! When do I get my toy LEGO man?”



Though some people balked at deceased musicians being playable characters in Guitar Hero 5, somehow I don’t think Freddie Mercury will evoke the same reaction; it also seems fitting that former collaborators Queen and David Bowie will be sharing the bill. I must say, though, that this makes the inclusion of Blur in LEGO Rock Band seem even more strange. Iggy, Bowie, Queen… Blur? I just don’t get it. Blur aside, I must commend Harmonix once again on attempting to introduce the younger generation to awesome music.

I just said “the younger generation”. I might have to go kill myself now.
